If you have the opportunity to travel in February, you’ll be able to enjoy the ritual shaman performance, which represents the proverbial myth of 18,000 gods. As one of the most highly recognized practices on the island, the people of Jeju believe these demonstrations rid the world of evil and injustice.

Next, immerse yourself in the story of the three founding demi-gods at the Samseonghyeol Shrine, their birthplace. Youll come across the burial altars and ring of stones created in their honor during the Ancient Tamna Kingdom in the 1500s, where celebratory rituals are still held each spring and fall. A little further down the same route is Tamna Mokseokwon, a provincial monument showcasing the unusual beauty of 20 natural trees befitting to their characteristics (such as Gosamok, the Dead Tree), 500 pieces of rock in the shape of a human head and other distinctive stones generally found around the island.Learn more: travelsense.org

Interestingly, the country is also known to be the longest in the whole world though its width is quite short. Its two well-known national parks are The Juan Fernandez Islands and the Easter Island. Most of the dwellers in Chile are “mestizos” or a descendant of the Spanish blood.

The only problem with Mykonos is the beaches, for there are far too many to highlight just one. On the south side of the island alone are Ornos and Psarou beaches preferred by families, Agrari for idyllic relaxation, Psarou for windsurfing, water-skiing and diving, and Paradise and Super Paradise beaches for the young, the beautiful and everyone in between. Whichever beach consumes your day, your night should be spent on Paradise, where the entire beach turns into a dance club that pulses with bodies until the sun comes up.

Northeast of Seychelles off of India’s southern tip, the 1,102 islands that make up the Maldives combine to simply make all your tropical dreams come true. From four-star resorts to diving 80-feet deep in water so clear you’ll try to take off your mask and breathe it like air (but please don’t), the Maldives are perfect to escape from the real world and find yourself enveloped in a palm-fringed fantasy.

Ihuru Island typifies the tropical ambiance that abounds in the Maldives. The island is so small you can casually stroll around it in 10 minutes flat, enjoying the feel of crunchy sand underfoot, the shade of palm trees hovering close and the play of fish and coral just a few meters into the calm turquoise sea. However, the island provides sensational snorkeling and windsurfing, along with a terrace bar where each evening you can relax in complete tranquility while watching the twinkling lights on the nearby islands play atop the waters.

For nowhere else on earth is paradise more abundantly evident than on these islands that are as relaxed and hospitable as they are beautiful. And the most striking spot in all the Seychelles is Anse Source d’Argent Beach on La Digue Island.

Just one look at the towering granite boulders shooting out of the soft pink sand to meet the calm ocean waters and you’ll know why Anse Source D’Argent is among the most photographed beaches in the world. The boulders are so smooth you can climb them barefoot and relax on the apex under the shade of a 40-foot palm tree arching behind. From this ideal vantage point, you can spend many blissful hours peering down at the tropical fish swimming in the clear waters or across the channel where Praslin Island sits so peacefully you’ll wonder if it was created just to enhance your view.

Kyoto is probably the most interesting city to visit in Japan, with countless beautiful temples, gardens and shrines, and no less than 17 Unesco World Heritage sites! If you’ve read the book or watched the film Memoirs of a Geisha, then a visit to Kyoto is something you won’t want to miss. The movie was filmed here, and it was once the Imperial capital of Japan. In fact, compared to Tokyo, Kyoto has much more to see historically than manic capital, being a city resplendent with old-world charm.

With so many interesting things to see in Kyoto, one of the most popular things visitors do is to browse through the old Geisha districts, hoping to spot a geisha or two, no doubt. Working tea houses, shops and wooden townhouses give an authentic glimpse into the culture of the geishas, but do mind the proper etiquette here, as this is an important part of Japanese culture still at work. A good idea may be to take a walking tour with a guide, especially if you want to take photographs.

The old city is a beautiful as ever and remains somewhat resistant to change, so you are in for a treat in Kyoto for sampling traditional threatre, like Kabuki or taking part in local festivals, which are numerous. The lovely countryside around the city is also worth exploring, and when you feel like venturing out further, Kyoto is an excellent base for discovering nearby sites like Nara deer park and Nijo castle.

One of the most underrated destinations is Bhutan, a small country that lies between the border of China and India.

What makes Bhutan unique is the unusual way the country is run – Bhutan is an absolute monarchy – where the progress of the country is measured through what is called Gross National Happiness. Gross National Happiness doesn’t only measure economic growth, but also the use of the environment, cultural preservation, as well as the way the natural environment is used and preserved. This way of measurement has been in use since 1974 and was invented by the King of Bhutan. Plastic bags and tobacco are banned in the country, and health care is free for all citizen. It’s really a place that’s almost too good to be true. Tourist activities include cultural tours, bird-watching, and hiking.
