Antarctica
Antarctica is fast becoming a popular tourist destination primarily because of the appeal of its remoteness. The beautiful snow caps, arctic animals and rugged terrain are a sight to behold. Majority of travelers come on board cruise ships that usually stop at outlying islands just at the tip of the peninsula near South America. This is the reason why most of ships traveling to Antarctica come from Ushuaia, Argentina.
Antarctic Peninsula including the Shetland Islands is generally the destinations of the cruises. Other islands frequently traveled by tourists are King George Island, Livingston and Half Moon Islands and the Deception Island. Traveling through the Antarctic circle allows tourists to claim that they have been to the South Pole.
